The learning community for event operations professionals
The Ops Foundation offers junior operations staff essential specialist professional development in the field of event operations.
Brought to you by the team behind The Ops Nest, this practical four-day course is designed to build technical and practical knowledge across a broad range of operational specialisms including stand build, feature planning, rigging, AV, electrics, logistics, furniture and graphics.
Candidates will learn from experts in each field, gain technical knowledge as they are guided through practical aspects to realise first-hand where mistakes can be made, the resulting impact, and how to avoid them.
The ideal attendees will have some operational experience of the exhibition industry, likely at an assistant or executive level, and be ready to step up to the next level.
Students will learn the principles of operational management, spending time in the classroom and on the show floor getting to grips with the technical and practical aspects of stand build, graphics, rigging, furniture, logistics, electrics and AV.
We believe in “learning by doing”. Sessions incorporate hands-on elements such as setting out features, building stands and working through AV components, as well as how to handle pressure in a crisis, project management, where the Ops role fits in the industry, and lessons in resilience.
There will be an assessment at the end of the course resulting in an Ops Foundation accreditation.
